Wussy Magazine

Layout design, typesetting, art direction

In early 2021 I worked as an independent contractor for Wussy Magazine, a queer arts and culture magazine. I was asked to design spreads for multiple features in the magazine’s 9th issue. The features I’m showcasing here are about illustrator Wooly Bearz and singer Anjimile. I tried to tailor the design of the subject of each feature. For instance, for the Anjimile article I based the color palette around the color palette of the photo shoot. For Wolly Bearz, I designed the shape of the text to mirror the illustrations. The assignment was to create a unique spread for each feature to give the magazine a collage-y/ zine quality, my approach helped the magazine to meet that goal.
